Kalimpong

Day 47 – Paro to Kalimpong – 10 Oct 2018

After 5 amazing days in Bhutan, it is time to start the return journey to Bangalore now. As per our plan, we are to reach Bangalore in next ten days. And Kalimpong in West Bengal is our next destination.

  • TOTAL KMS: 328 Kms
  • TIME TAKEN: 10 hours 35 mins
  • AVG FUEL EFFICIENCY: 19.8 Km/L
  • ROUTE: Phuentsholing, Sevoke
  • NHs: NH17, NH10
  • TOLL PAID: Nil

Around 9 in the morning, after correcting the tyre pressures, we started our return journey. We were feeling very heavy in our hearts, as the trip was always termed as “Bhutan Trip”, and that feeling of aiming to reach Bhutan is soon to go off ! We are heading back now! Though we still had some amazing places to be covered with the best of stays, we were feeling as if something is being taken away from us! On the way, we stopped at the Chukha checkpost for emmigration documents check and then again at Rinchendong checkpost to complete the exit procedures. And then we finally exited Bhutan at Pheuntsholing.

It was a very smooth drive till Sevok after which the roads turned out to be extremely bad and the buses and vehicles rushing on the road to Sikkim made it even more uncomfortable and dangerous. It had rained heavily and the visibility was very bad too. However, once we took the turn to Kalimpong from the Sikkim road, the roads were extremely good again. The mountain roads winded up very soon and we reached Kalimpong around 7.30Pm.

Day 48 – Kalimpong – 11 Oct 2018

We had planned for a very relaxed and lazy day in Kalimpong. With a heavy heart, we didn’t feel like going anywhere. We spent the entire day in the resort. We stepped out to the city center only for lunch, to have a delicious burger, and spend the rest of the day playing in the resort. Though we were a bit disturbed as the journey is slowly approaching a closure, daughter seemed to be pretty excited about the resort and its facilities. I had purposefully made the stays better towards the end, so that we won’t feel too lost in the places we had left behind!
